Non-Electrical Branch Experiments

1. Testing of single phase energy meter at different power factor i.e. 0.5, 0.866 and 1.0.
2. To perform the OC-SC test of a single phase transformer and to calculate voltage regulation and efficiency.
3. To study load test of a single phase transformer and determine its efficiency and voltage regulation.
4. Study of power factor at different loads i.e. resistive, inductive & capacitive.
5. To study series resonance in AC circuit.
6. To Verify Maximum Power Transfer Theorem
7. To Measure Three Phase Power by 2 Watt Meter Method.
8. To find Magnetization characteristic of a separately excited DC generator.
9. To observe Speed control of DC Motor by

• Variation of armature voltage.
• Variation of field flux.

SAFETY IN BASIC ELECTRICAL LABORATORY

Severity of Electric shock depends upon the following factors:

1. Path of current through the body.
   
2. Amount of current flowing through the body.
   
3. Duration of the electrical current flowing through the body.
   

Electrical accidents are caused by the combination of following reasons:

1. Unsafe equipment and/or installation.
   
2. Workplaces made unsafe by the enviornment, and
   
3. Unsafe work practices.
   

Safty and Precautions:

1. The supply must be turned off while wiring.
   
2. Always wear dry rubber shoes while handling electrical wiring/equipments.
   
3. Electrical connections should be clean and tight to avoid sparking.
   
4. Old and damaged wiring should be replaced regularly.
